SuperPawn is the leader and pioneer in reselling pre-owned merchandise such as
jewelry, watches, cameras, electronics and more. With 46 company and franchised
stores nationwide, the 128-year-old company went online in 2001 and has
dramatically expanded its online presence since then.
Business Challenges
SuperPawn wanted to extend the reach of its storefronts and maximize efficiency
at a minimum cost, but it faced three major challenges:

Solution
Through the eBay Developers Program, ztradingindustries™* developed an application that
linked SuperPawn’s point-of-sale system to eBay. The application streamlined
the process of listing, categorizing and fulfilling merchandise, so now
SuperPawn:

Accesses eBay’s audience of over 95 million registered users.

Posts item listings with a few keystrokes, and receives an instant message when
the item sells. Fulfillment and customer interaction is managed centrally, and
all of the payments are handled electronically.

Activity costs have been reduced to as low as 25 cents per item.
The eBay Developers Program is so effective,
SuperPawn was able to create a second company called ztradingindustries
to resell their AuctionMonitor software to auction houses, pawn shops
and retail businesses.

AuctionMonitor®
ztradingindustries'™* AuctionMonitor® is an interface to eBay’s API that
enables them to sell used goods efficiently at auction. The interface connects
SuperPawn’s flagship Point-Of-Acquisition software PRIMA™
(Pre-Owned Retail Internet Management Analysis) with eBay and the ztradingindustries™* Web
fulfillment engine. This creates a tightly-coupled eCommerce engine for auctions.
AuctionMonitor® accumulates information about items to auction, coming from
SuperPawn’s satellite locations running PRIMA™. Using various business
rules, auctions are posted to eBay, and completed auctions are fulfilled
directly from satellite locations in an otherwise completely online
transaction. And AuctionMonitor‘s® dynamic system of category management
allows quick redirection of product through PRIMA™ to the appropriate
eBay category.
